In a recent Associations Now article on leadership, new Avenue M Principal, Elena Gerstmann, PhD, FASAE, CAE, talks about how to “toot your own horn” and why advocating for yourself isn’t egotistical. A 2017 winner of ASAE’s Professional Performance Award, which honors association leaders who aren’t CEOs, Gerstmann says speaking up for yourself isn’t selfish: “It’s more about owning your own brand and owning how you want people to see you.”
