An article, “You Said, We Did: The Key to Boosting Survey Responses and Trust,” written by President and CEO of Avenue M Group, Sheri Jacobs, FASAE, CAE is featured in Associations Now. In the article, Jacobs discusses “inaction fatigue” which is the disillusionment and disengagement that can arise from members as the result of an association not translating its survey data into tangible action. She shares some strategies associations can implement to combat inaction fatigue and strengthen its relationship with members:

  • Shift your association’s mindset to treat surveys as a call to change rather than a report card or performance assessment.
  • Implement the “You Said, We Did” framework that details the actions and changes your association has implemented in response to the survey data.

In the article, Jacobs also shares additional information on ways to improve survey response rates and member engagement such as optimizing the survey design, communicating the survey length to respondents, sharing the survey results with respondents, and ensuring leadership demonstrates “a commitment to acting on survey results.”
